Conflict Minerals Policy against the DRC and Adjoining Countries

Since the 1990s, the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have repeatedly occurred countless times by non-state armed groups. One of the finance sources they are benefitted from is illegally mining and supplying mineral resources without consideration of the global environment and human ethics.
Generally, mineral resources in conflicted areas, which are universally called ‘Conflict Minerals’ or ‘3TG’ such as Tantalum, Tin, Tungsten and Gold, are originated from in the DRC and its nine adjoining countries, namely Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
To get 3TG resources, inhumanity activities against laws (e.g. Forced Labour, Child Labour, Abuses or Human Traffic) are consciously believed to be used in a process to generate unlawful income for armed groups.

From our intention to never support these inhuman activities, human-rights violations and war crimes,
P C S Foundry Products Co., Ltd. has enacted Conflict Minerals Policy with an ambitious objective and principle.
In compliance with the policy, suppliers are highly expected of us to conduct due diligence in the investigation of the supply chain and raw materials origin as to not indirectly or directly support the armed forces in the DRC.

Free standardised reporting tool from the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) called Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) is internationally used to exercise due diligence by information transfer regarding mineral origin through the supply chain.
From smelters and refiners to downstream businesses, CMRT is mainly utilised in order to create sustainability procurement with an approach of environmental, social, and corporate governance.

With our regulation, commitment and policy, our suppliers are expected to:

– Enact the policy and regulations regarding responsible sourcing of minerals in order to possibly reduce or prevent Conflicted Minerals conveyed into the supply chain

– Provide training to related employees so as to have the capability in investigating the origin of minerals from responsible suppliers

– Respond and submit Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) when requested by us with a view to disclosing the origin of minerals that is not from the DRC or adjoining countries

– If one of 3TG is originated within the following countries, the on-site or 3rd party audit is expected to be effective and the mineral resources from given mines must be certified and guaranteed to be DRC Conflict-Free Materials

If our supplier of 3TG raw materials is found to be non-compliance with the company’s policies and expectations,
we are ensuring that finding a proper solution along with our supplier will be carried out and compromised.

However, if non-compliance 3TG suppliers are not responsive to our demand and expectation on the conflict mineral issue, P C S Foundry Products Co., Ltd. may have a right to possibly terminate the relationship with the non-compliance supplier.
